Australian Manufacturing Week 2025: A Resounding Success for Okuma Australia

The doors have closed at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) for another Australian Manufacturing Week, and what an extraordinary event it was! Okuma Australia’s exhibition stand was nothing short of a success, delivering an impressive demonstration of advanced manufacturing technology that captivated record attendees and reinforced its position as a market leader in precision engineering.

Throughout the exhibition, a record number of visitors (over 16,000) passed through the doors with many visiting the Okuma Stand, eager to witness Okuma’s world-class CNC machines in action. The live demonstrations—featuring metal-cutting, probing operations, and the cutting-edge OSP-P500 controller—proved to be major attractions, offering firsthand insight into the brand’s innovation and efficiency.

At the heart of Okuma’s presence was the Multus U4000, an advanced multitasking machining centre that wowed industry professionals with its twin spindles, single turret, and 0.001-degree indexable B-axis. With its 80-position tool magazine and seamless integration with the OSP Suite, this powerhouse machine impressed manufacturers seeking precision, stability, and performance.

The ARMROID automation solution was another standout moment, demonstrating how integrated robotics within the Okuma CNC Lathe model LB3000EXII can streamline part handling, optimise machining, and maintain peak operational efficiency. Visitors marvelled at its ability to enhance productivity through automated loading and in-machine cleaning.

Okuma also showcased its next-generation Genos M560V-5AX, a 5-axis vertical machining centre designed for superior accuracy and impressive metal removal rates. Industry professionals praised its compact yet robust design, perfect for high-precision applications. The professional golf putter that was machined and displayed at the show was a fine example of this machine’s capabilities.

Additionally, the Horizontal Machining Centre model MB-5000HII left a lasting impression with its rapid tool changes, high-speed capabilities, and thermally stable construction—hallmarks of Okuma’s commitment to efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Adding an exciting technological dimension to the stand, Okuma integrated a virtual reality (VR) experience into the exhibition, allowing attendees to explore the full range of Okuma machine models in an immersive, interactive way. This VR setup enabled manufacturers to visualise life-size machine configurations, enhancing their understanding of how Okuma solutions could transform their workshop environments.

“There were consistent visitors in front of each Okuma machine, with the Okuma Australia members actively talking to customers, and the booth was filled with a good atmosphere thanks to the dynamic Okuma team.  The Virtual Reality (VR) goggles were very popular amongst many visitors to our stand and further showed Okuma as a leading brand,” commented Micky Kato, European & Oceanian Markets, Okuma Corporation, Japan.

Beyond the machines, several successful Okuma customer events held during AMW2025 further solidified Okuma’s standing in the industry. These events brought together leading professionals, business owners, and engineers who shared insights on how Okuma’s cutting-edge technology has empowered their operations. Through engaging discussions and real-life  success stories, attendees gained valuable perspectives on how Okuma continues to drive innovation, efficiency, and profitability across the manufacturing sector.

“AMW2025 was another landmark event held by AMTIL, and Okuma Australia’s presence was a shining example of engineering excellence,” commented Dean McCarroll, Managing Director, Okuma Australia + New Zealand.  “From automation to multitasking machining to immersive VR experiences, attendees left with a deeper understanding of what the future of manufacturing holds—and Okuma remains firmly at the forefront. We thank those who visited our booth, both existing and new customers. We appreciate your business.”

After such a successful exhibition, the excitement for what’s next is already building. Until then, we celebrate the achievements of AMW2025 and the industry-leading innovations that made it an unforgettable experience.
