From the MD – Issue 3, 2025
Dear Customers,
Welcome to our next Okuma Australia and New Zealand newsletter. We hope you find this edition informative, timely, and a valuable glimpse into the developments across our business.
As we wrap up the first quarter of our fiscal year, we are encouraged by strong performance and a buoyant metals manufacturing industry. Despite ongoing global challenges, the industry continues to uncover new opportunities; an optimistic sign for all involved.
One persistent challenge many of us face is employee skills shortage across the industry. At the same time, we’re seeing rapid advancements in machine tool sophistication, and therefore the value of investments. This evolution is not only exciting, but it reaffirms the need for strategic growth in our capabilities.
At Okuma Australia and New Zealand, we’re proud to be responding proactively. Over the past few months, we’ve expanded our service support teams in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, with more appointments on the horizon as we find the right people. We are committed to recruiting qualified professionals who embody the spirit of the Okuma brand, and we follow this up with our own program of training and continued support. We trust our customers will experience the benefits of these significant investments in our people.
This newsletter also features several noteworthy highlights, including the expansion and new facilities in Queensland, a new Branch Manager in South Australia following Rob Hall’s retirement, an inspiring WA customer story, a request in support of Australian farmers and the return of the Okuma Lunch & Learn program.
Finally, from our parent company, Okuma Corporation in Japan, to our local teams across Australia and New Zealand we wish to extend our thanks to our loyal customers for their continued support. We also welcome any opportunity to showcase our company to those who are new to us, as we remain committed to delivering excellence.
Yours sincerely,
Dean McCarroll
