Okuma’s R&D Department General Manager Harumitsu Senda and four others have received the Prize for Science and Technology in the Development Category, Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology 2014.
Prizes in the Development Category of the Prizes for Science and Technology are awarded to people who have made significant contributions to Japanese society and economy and to the improvement of the daily lives of the Japanese people, and have conducted innovative research and development or made inventions that are in actual use and application. The Okuma employees were cited for “development of intelligent machine tool technology that improves machining efficiency and accuracy.”
