Okuma's SPACE TURN LB EX Series received a 2007 Top 10 New Products Award, one of Japan's top awards, given out by the Nikkan Kogyo Business & Technology Daily News 

This continues our streak from last year, and marks the first time that the award has won for five consecutive years by a machine tool manufacturer. The previous awards were for the following:
2003 - MA-H horizontal machining center
2004 - MULTUS B300 multitasking machine
2005 - Universal Center MU-500V multitasking machine
2006 - MCR-H Hyper double-column machining center

The 2007 award was received for the SPACE TURN LB EX Series of high accuracy CNC lathes/turning centers

The EX Series arrives as the next generation of the best-selling LB Series of 1-saddle CNC lathes, with improved machining performance including milling, and high-accuracy, stable cutting based on the Thermo-Friendly Concept. The EX Series machines are our most user-friendly machines yet. 

The four machines of the series,

provide the basis for variation that is able to meet diverse needs for multitasking specifications, sub-spindles, Y-axis specifications, and more. 

Our newly developed PREX (reluctance) motors are built in to the spindles, and the combination of larger size and faster speeds, plus dramatically improved multitasking, gives EX Series machines the best performance in their class. The Thermo-Friendly Concept, with its unique structural design and thermal deformation compensation system to achieve astounding machining accuracies, reduces the need for troublesome compensation and warming up. It also enables the machines to maintain high machining accuracy with superior thermal stability even in long-time continuous machining, multitasking, two-sided machining with a subspindle, and Y-axis machining. 

Comfortable operation is achieved with the use of OSP-P200L and NC tailstock standards, providing optimum productivity.
